It's always nice to learn a little bit about the person who's taking your picture to make you feel more at ease. You've come to the right place if you'd like to learn more about me before booking a session. With Maidenmoon Photography, you will have a customized experience that is curated to your expectations without having to go through the time consuming process of selecting from a variety of photographers. The foundation of my business is the relationships I develop with my clients, and I hope to work with you to create endless keepsakes of your life memories. When you look back at those memories, you'll want to recall more than just the special occasions. You don't have to wait for a big life event to capture those moments. Whether it's a milestone or just another day, collecting those moments in time will always be the best way to relive the best of life.
I moved to Alaska in 2016, and the Air Force decided this is where I would start my life. After serving four years on active duty at JBER as an aircraft mechanic, I decided that it was time to move on to the next chapter in my life. That took some work, and photography was not at the forefront; I continued my education as I worked toward becoming an animator. I realized that journey no longer felt right; I wanted a career I would love! Photography had been a hobby of mine for 8 years prior, and I always enjoyed the creative aspect of capturing life through the lens. I received my first professional grade camera at the age of 17, and I quickly began taking photos for all my family and friends! I realized that I truly loved each and every experience I had with that camera in my hands. Although I had never thought about photography as a career, I made the decision that it was time for this passion to take the lead.
When I'm not exploring Alaska with my camera, I spend my time with my husband and our fur babies! We have plenty to keep us busy; we enjoy DIY projects (sometimes to the extreme) and, of course, we live for Alaskan summers! You can find us camping, fishing, and exploring every chance we get.
Alaska sure does make it easy to create beautiful photos; with its never ending beauty, there is never a dull session. Aside from taking in the beauty of this outstanding state, I truly pride myself on offering a fair opportunity to every person when it comes to photography. There are so many people who have forgone capturing their special moments because of the cost. Creating photography services that are affordable for any budget is the foundation that Maidenmoon Photography is built on. I want every person to have the ability to preserve life's unexplainable moments, no matter the occasion. Bringing joy to my clients who almost had to give up photographing their wedding or documenting their first pregnancy is my passion.
Life fulfillment and purpose does not come from money ( at least not for me), and because of this, photography is a second career for me. I work with another Alaskan owned small business; supporting local businesses is important to me. I do have a flexible schedule, but my typical availability is Saturday-Monday, weekday evenings, and holidays. You will receive every photo from your session in a digital gallery. The meaning behind the name
The maiden moon comes from the Triple Goddess, a symbol consisting of the three main phases of the moon. The maiden/Crescent moon is represented by the waxing moon, the Mother by the Full moon and the waning by the Crone/Balsamic. This symbolism represents life's cycles in many ways.
The Maiden represents our childlike curiosity, openness, and sense of adventure. The Maiden can occur multiple times in a life. Whether it’s starting something new or a general sense of excitement at life's possibilities.
The Mother, or full moon, represents the most abundant time of life. Motherhood has always been connected to safety, love, security, and a place to call home. Despite its matronly connotations, the Mother phase is present in all women. It means all those early ideas and possibilities about the Maiden are coming true and that life is full.
The Crone phase is symbolized by the waning moon, the time when one cycle ends, and another begins. The Crone is brimming with knowledge and life experience and can be a symbol of how wise and strong we are by nature. The Crone is a symbol of how we can emerge from life's adversities even stronger and more resilient than before.
For me starting this business was an entirely new path that leads to new goal and a new future. This was a big jump and a huge life change for me, and I wanted to represent that through the name I chose.
